Writing Holocaust
Artista Janez Janša realiza, no Transmediale em Berlim, a performance “Signature Event Context” onde ele escreve andando com um GPS “my name is Janez Janša” no Memórial do Holocausto (Via VVORK).
“Signature Event Context« at the Holocaust Memorial puts together 3 concepts (signature, event and context) from Derrida’s essay in complex relation; signature itself is an event which re-contextualizes the site of signature. The performance scheduled for the opening of TRANSMEDIALE.08 the 29th of January 2008 at 8.30 pm at the foyer of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Germany, was conjunctively cancelled by the director of transmediale Stephen Kovats and the Guest-Curator Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez.”
A prática de escrever com GPS começou em 2000 com o artista inglês Jeremy Wood. Wood desviou o uso convencional dos GPSs utilizando-os como ferramentas de “escrita” sobre o espaço urbano. Essa escrita só é visível a posteriori, em mapas, ou na internet, com o Google Maps ou Google Earth. O seu site, GPS Drawing, tem uma galeria com vários “desenhos”. Estamos realizando um projeto semelhante aqui, “Writing Edmonton”, a partir do livro da canadense Margareth Atwood, “Survival”. O projeto deve ser finalizado no final de fevereiro. Stay tuned!
