Vote by Mobile
Estônia é um país bastante agressivo em termos de adoção de tecnoloigas móveis e rede sem fio (quase 100% do território). Em 2011 ele será o primeiro país a adotar voto para o parlamento por telefones celulares. Já houve experiencias em outros países, como a Suiça, mas não nessas dimensões. A questão que sempre aparece é da segurança, da certeza sobre quem vota e do esvaziamento da experiência de ir as ruas para votar. Mas, garantem os Estonianos, esses problemas não impedirão a adoção do sistema.

“(…) Lawmakers approved a measure Thursday allowing citizens to vote by mobile phone in the next parliamentary elections in 2011. Estonians were allowed to cast Internet ballots in last year’s parliamentary vote.
The mobile-voting system, which has already been tested, requires that voters obtain free, authorized chips for their phones, said Raul Kaidro, spokesman of the SK Certification Center, which issues personal ID cards in Estonia.
The chip will verify the voter’s identity and authorize participation in the electronic voting system, he said.
