Morre Bill Mitchell, diretor do MIT’s Design Laboratory, autor de e-topia, city of bits, me++, entre outros. Pensador do urbano e da relação das cidades com as mídias eletrônicas. Mitchell foi um dos mais importantes pensadores da atualíssima computação ubíqua e de sua relação com o espaço urbano. Referência inevitável para os estudos sobre cidades digitais, smart cities, comunicação sem fio, computação “pervasiva” e sensível à lugares e objetos, mídias locativas…
Em “Me ++. The cyborg self and the networked city” (MIT Press, Cambridge, 2003), Mitchell afirmava:
“Gradually emerging from the messy but irresistible extension of wireless coverage is the possibility of a radically reimagined, reconstructed, electronic form of nomadicity – a form that is grounded not just in the terrain that nature gives us, but in sophisticated, well-integrated wireless infrastructure, combined with other networks, and deployed on a global scale” (p. 57).
