Birth TCP/IP
E hoje a internet, definida como uma rede usando o protocolo “TCP/IP”, faz 25 anos. Muita coisa mudou desde então e muito ainda mudará nos próximos anos. Vimos e-mail, ftp, Mosaic e Gopher, Newsgroups, Minitel, Web, Palace, tecnologia push, ICQ, Napster…, e hoje blogs, Google, Flickr, YouTube e outras ferramentas colaborativas da “Web 2.0”, smart phones, redes sem fio…o futuro continua aberto! Que a rede continue neutra e colaborativa!
E é sempre bom lembrar que o melhor exemplo de sucesso de sistemas abertos e livres (como o Linux hoje) é a Internet – protocolo TCP/IP, que permite a troca de informação entre computadores e sistemas de todo o mundo de forma aberta, livre, pertencendo à toda a humanidade!

“1983: Internet Is Defined Officially as Networks Using TCP/IP
On January 1 the ARPAnet — and every network attached to the ARPAnet — officially adopts the TCP/IP networking protocol, developed in the 1970s by pioneering network engineers Vinton Cerf and Bob Kahn. From then on, all networks that use TCP/IP are collectively known as the Internet. The standardization of TCP/IP allows the number of Internet sites and users to grow exponentially.”
