Comeca no proximo dia 9 de novembro o Simposio Arte e Ciencia, parte dos eventos do ano em que Edmonton e’ a capital Cultural do Canada. Varias palestras ineteressantes durante dois dias…Pretendo assistir todas…Vejam abaixo alguns nomes que participam do evento, e o programa completo aqui.
O Simposio comeca com o tema “At the Crossroads of Science and the Arts”, com Alan Lightman, fisico e escritor. Ja li seu livro “Os sonhos de Einstein”. A minha edicao era portuguesa e nao sei se o livro esta publicado no Brasil.
No primeiro dia teremos o painel Panel “Mysteries Unfolding: Science, Art and the Body” com Alan Bleakley falando sobre “Medicine’s Exquisite Corpse: Art, Science and Medical Aesthetics”; Jim Ruxton and Camille Turner sobre “Sync: The Beauty of Nature’s Systems” e Jeffrey Burns com a palestra “Crossing Territories in Medicine and Art”.
No segundo dia o painel pela manha “All in the Mind: Learning Aesthetics and Ways of Knowing” com Ellen Dissanayake falando sobre “Deep Structure of the Arts”, depois Ellen Bielawski com o tema “Philosophy of Science and Indigenous Knowledge”; David Miall sobre “The Necessity of Reading: Evolution and Literature”. A tarde o painel “Manifestations: The Tangible Object” com Will Bauer, “The Poet’s Bandwidth: Recent thinking about the tangible thought and non-cartesian perspective – an open letter of experiment from the edge of the middle of nowhere”, Sid Fels sobre “New Interfaces for Artistic Expression: A Mouthful” e meu colega Rob Shields sobre “From Intangible to Tangible and Back Again”.
